Imperial Indonesian Society

General Background: Imperial College Indonesian Society aims to be a home away from home for Indonesians studying in Imperial. We organise dinners to satisfy any sambal craving you may have, screen Indonesian movies and hold gatherings amongst ourselves and other Indonesian Societies in other universities  (so that you don’t forget your Bahasa!). Every year, we organise the largest Indonesian Night in London where hundreds of people attend and bask in traditional culture and performances. Friendships are forged, bonds are formed and we strongly encourage for people to join to get a once in a lifetime experience.Imperial College Indonesian society welcomes everyone, as long as you have an interest in Indonesia!

LSE SU Indonesian Society

General Background: LSESU Indonesian society adalah perkumpulan masyarakat Indonesia dan non-Indonesia dari London School of Economics and Political Science yang tertarik dengan budaya Indonesia. Acara yang kami adakan secara luas menyangkut promosi dan pemaparan budaya. Di dalam universitas, kami berkerj asama dengan society lain untuk mengadakan acara berlatar budayas eperti pemutaran film atau pun pembukaan kios dimana barang kebudayaan dipamerkan atau dijual. Diluar, kami mengikuti dan mempromosikan acara kebudayaan Indonesia yang diselenggarakan perhimpunan lain.

General Background: Connect Indonesia was founded in January 2000 in London, United Kingdom,  by a small group of caring individuals who are passionate about Indonesia and who care about its development and its connection to the world.  Connect Indonesia.

Our mission is to network with people from all over the world who love Indonesia and who want to contribute to make Indonesia to become one of literate nations of our world. Anglo Indonesian Society

General Background:Anglo-Indonesian Society is an independent, non-political Society dedicated to fostering friendship and understanding between Britain and Indonesia. We assist with strengthening cultural, educational and social relations between our two countries. Our Members are people who share our interest in Indonesia and the aims of the Society. Perhimpunan Rantau Indonesia di UK (PERIUK)

General Background:

  • To assist and encourage the integration of Indonesian people into the UK community.

Indonesian Networking and Developtment UK

General Background: Group ini merupakan bentuk kelanjutan dari kelas pelatihan bahasa Inggris dan ketrampilan yang di adakan oleh KBRI London sebagai bentuk pengayoman bagi perempuan – perempuan pejuang Indonesian Workers, nanny maupun carer sejak bulan Mei 2010.

Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah United Kingdom (MES UK)/ Islamic Economic Society of United Kingdom 

General Background: Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah United Kingdom (MES-UK) merupakan perwakilan khusus dari Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES), sebuah organisasi kemasyarakatan yang bertujuan untuk menjadi wadah pengembangan dan penerapan sistem ekonomi dan etika usaha yang sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip syariah khususnya di Indonesia. Secara formal, MES-UK didirikan pada tahun 2009 atas prakarsa beberapa mahasiswa dan praktisi ekonomi syariah Indonesia yang tengah berada di UK.

Keluarga Islam Indonesia di Britania Raya (KIBAR)

General Background: Keluarga Islam Indonesia di Britania Raya (KIBAR) merupakan wadah komunikasi dan koordinasi kelompok-kelompok pengajian muslim Indonesia, atau yang lebih dikenal dengan sebutan pengajian lokaliti, yang tersebar di berbagai kota di UK, seperti London, Birmingham, Nottingham-Derby-Leicestershire, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Oxford, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Bristol, Southampton, dan kota-kota lainnya.

Warga pengajian lokaliti berasal dari beragam latar belakang yang mencakup kalangan mahasiswa/pelajar, ekspat/pekerja, maupun warga Indonesia yang menikah dengan warga negara UK. KIBAR merupakan wadah silaturahim dan sekaligus berfungsi sebagai sarana dakwah bagi warga muslim Indonesia di UK. Kepengurusan KIBAR dipilih secara rutin setiap tahun oleh perwakilan pengajian lokal.-

Lila Bhawa

General Background: Lila Bhawa is a UK-based Indonesian dance group, specializing in the classical dances of Bali and Java. Lila Bhawa dance group was set up by its Creative Director, Ni Made Pujawati, back in 2002.

She brought with her one of Bali’s most beautiful old gamelans, the rare seven-tone Semar Pagulingan, Puja Semara Kanti, and senior dancers and musicians to teach and perform in the UK. Ni Madé Pujawati is dancer-in-residence with the London-based Gamelan Lila Cita and also regular dancer with the South Bank Javanese gamelan.

Lila Bhawa currently has 20 active members who perform regularly around London and the UK at various festivals and concerts, such as at the LSO St Luke’s, SOAS, City University and other.

ARTi UK

General Background: ARTi UK, established in August 2010, is a non-profit organisation aiming at promoting Indonesian arts and culture within the UK’s cultural diversity.

Indonesia Kontemporer 2011 will be one of the first stepping stones for ARTi UK to reach its objective. Supporting by the Indonesian Embassy, ARTi UK is also currently organising a youth gamelan group Jagat Gamelan.

Tari Saman London

Komunitas Angklung London

Komunitas Angklung London aims to promote Indonesian culture by providing a platform for Indonesians and non-Indonesians to learn and play angklung. Angklung is one of Indonesia’s traditional musical instruments and has officially recognised by the UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

We have weekly practice session which takes place at Indonesian Embassy in London. Membership is open for public and we do not charge any membership fees. However, we do hope that members are committed to practise at least once a week. We have performed in various performances in London before namely PERKI Christmas Celebration 2015, Farewell party for Ambassador Hamzah Thayeb 2016, and Indonight Imperial College 2016. Together with the Indonesian language class at the Indonesian Embassy London, we also had a “Hangout Bareng the Locals” (Hangout with the Locals) event where students from the Indonesian language class got the taste of playing angklung. We are looking forward to participate in more events in the future.
